Toledo & Moore Take Pro's
Brazillian ripper Filipe Toledo and Hawaiian Carissa Moore have blown away spectators on the final day of competition for both the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro’s, held at the amazing venue of Coolangatta’s Snapper Rocks.
After patiently waiting for over a week to resume competition, the final rounds produced fun two to three feet waves for the remaining competitors. After some surprising big name eliminations, the Quiksilver Pro eventually came down to one Aussie, Julian Wilson, and one Brazillian, Filipe Toledo. It was evident from the very beginning that both surfers were hungrier than ever to take home the first event and set themselves up the best way possible for the remaining competitions on the 2015 World Surfing League Championship Tour, combining strong turns with what seemed to be an effortless air game.
The two went all in, and after what seemed to be an eternity of wave for wave battles, it was eventually the Brazillian who overcame Julian Wilson, taking home the prestigious event thanks to his strong combination and unbeaten score of 19.60.
Carissa Moore also stayed true to her game, overcoming six time World Champion and local lass Stephanie Gilmore in the Final round of the Roxy Pro. Carissa proved local knowledge isn’t always everything, putting together great combination scores and taking the event in front of a huge international crowd.
