Blogger Diary. Bluesfest Day 1 Rundown.

There was surprisingly little traffic as we made our way to Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, ensuring our spirits were kept high. We were lucky enough to get a lift in with a friends dad, and as we pumped Chamillionaire, the anticipation of this years Blues kept us on high alert.

As we made our way into the festival, the vibe was as expected…electric. First order was to get our bearings, make some calls to catch up with friends and make our way to Ziggy Marley. I was especially excited to check out Ziggy, as I have been dealing with his company, The House Of Marley (we are about to stock his sweet wooden headphones). Let’s just say, he didn’t let me down. He featured songs from his latest album, ‘Wild and Free’ which is his most political to date. His entire performance affirmed that he is a master story teller with an innate sense of soul.

We all know that there has been some contention about Cold Chisel headlining Bluesfest, but it didn’t feel like it as they drew in the masses to their magnetic sound. Proving that he can still rock a pair of leathers, front man Barnes is definitely on a roll with the delivery of the title track to their new album ‘No Plans’. They then pulled out ‘Khe Sanh’, which as you can imagine, prompted a huge singalong. Let’s just say, they have definitely not lost their touch, and there is no doubt that I will be back there today checking them out once again.

Checking out the fashion trends was high on my priority list. I was expecting flower children to flock in high numbers, and I was not disappointed! One of my favourite trends this season is the floppy wide brimmed hat. If you are loving this trend, you must check out Rusty’s Cherry Bomb range which SurfStitch have stocked up on – Practical and chic, they are one of the major trends to hit international runways this season.

The maxi skirt which is another of my favourite trends, was in high numbers. Flowing and comfy, maxi skirts are a great boho festival pick. This floaty piece is readily available in floral prints and plains at SurfStitch.

We are pretty pumped for day 2 and am most looking forward to Lucinda Williams, John Fogerty and Steve Earle.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing today?
