Destination. Palm Springs.
After 36 hours of no sleep, 4 cans of red bull, a pack of our favourite strawberry sour straps and countless amounts of chocolate we were on our way to music land… aka Palm Springs.
Driving through the California desert. Strange. Beautiful. The rocky terrain and barren landscape mark the territory. A 2 hour and 15 minute journey some how ended up taking us 4 and a 1/2 hours. A collection of missed turn offs and peak hour traffic.
Luckily we tuned in to a few of California’s best music stations. On high rotation was a collection of artists from the Coachella lineup – a few of my personal favourite including Gotye, Bon Iver and Justice – and some classic old stuff – The Beach Boys.
At the beginning of the journey, it was one for all and all for one. If Kia, our driver, couldn’t sleep… none of us would. As you can see, it didn’t quite turn out that way…
Just as we pulled into Palm Springs, the sun began to set. Perfect timing! As we made our way down main street, the silhouettes of alien-like trees stand strong contrasting with the fiery orange-red sky.
We had arrived.
