Heed your daily dose of style and inspiration with one of our favourite fashion bloggers, Emily Collie of Melbourne Girl. Embracing the sunshine, warmth and of course the beach, Emily has shared her style tips for the season.

This summer, the two biggest emerging trends for the season (for women) are hats and pants. They work perfectly with my style because I’m a tee girl, always incorporating a casual-edge into my looks for day and night.

A straw hat is the perfect accessory to take you from beach to bar. It’s practical and chic and teams so well with everything from your bikini, to jeans and dresses. I’m loving the variety of colours and brim sizes on offer at SurfStitch. I definitely need a different hat for everyday of the week, to team with each of my summer outfits.

are a broad category, I know. Think loose beach pants and harems, without forgeting about your old classic denim jeans. They are great for changing climates (hello Melbourne) and another fashion item which takes you from a poolside lunch hangout, to evening bevvies with the girls in the city laneways. I’m loving the variety of leg styles – take your pick from super wide to super tight, with a cuffed tapered ankle or 3/4 cut off. All pants are on-trend for summer, which means there’s a style to suit every woman, of every shape and size. You can team them with a fun crop, a printed tee or even a loose button up shirt for added UV protection.Remember, you can get away with wearing whatever you like if you feel confident (and maybe throw on a pair of heels to jazz up your look at night).

One last tip for the ultimate home and workplace style… Inject a candle into all your favourite spaces. I snapped up a gorgeous Palm Beach candle and keep it in my studio to set the most amazing summer mood whilst I’m working – the scent is so uplifting and inspiring!
