Luan Oliveira Wins Nike Street League New Jersey
After much anticipation, Stop Two of the Nike Sb Street League Skateboarding has concluded in New Jersey, with Brazilian born Luan Oliveira taking the title back to back after a win earlier at Stop 1 in Los Angeles.
As usual, the deciding moments came down to the last few moments, as Oliveira and Mr. Nyjah Huston went toe to toe with their usual big bag of incredible (and what some would call impossible) trick combinations.
With Nyjah in first position and Luan with just two trick attempts left, the Brazilian needed a solid score of 8.6 to secure the prime spot. It was then that Oliveira’s dreams of back to back wins became a reality, throwing down a precise and powerful 360 flip noseslide bigspin combination, enough to impress the judges for a score of 9.5, and enough to overtake the man some will call the best competition skateboarder of all time.
With Nyjah needing a 9.6 to take back the top spot, he rolled into his last trick attempt, though took a nasty and somewhat scary fall, handing Luan his second win direct to the palm of his hand.
Oliveira is now in prime position to take out the most prestigious event in skateboarding, the SLS Nike Sb Super Crown World Championship, a one day event with a similar course layout, with only the top 8 of 22 skateboarders from the first stops on the tour advancing for a shot at the title. Stay tuned!
